We had spent a weekend at the Once Brewed Youth Hostel in Northumberland and after a good lunch in the pub next door I needed to walk off the buger, chips and beer. I had seen (and bought) some artist’s cards in the visitor centre shop which I have since mislaid so can’t remember the name of the artist. When I find them I’ll edit this post, but they were striking charcoal drawings of Hadrian’s Wall and the surrounding countryside. This photo was influenced by those drawings in that I wanted to get across the feeling of the remote, bleak, snowy landscape through a more abstract and graphical interpretation than a straight photo.
