Birds are notoriously difficult to catch at the right moment. With any animal come to think of it, specially in groups like this – kind of multiplying the problems – it is hard to get a good composition, but I got lucky here as I like the light and minimalist feeling of the birds taking to the air. I was unsure about how to present this – I quite liked a starker look against a white background but in the end went for something with a fuller tone.
A Day in December 
I like this composition very much but, to capitalize on the minimalist interpretation, I would have chosen the white background with a 1px black frame.
thanks Louis, I’ll give it a try. One of Lightroom’s many plus points is it makes that easy.
Minimalist composition. I think very difficult take pics like that, as you said, birds are hard to catch in the right moment.
I also enjoyed the colors and the minimum contrast, it reminds me a rainy day…

I rally like the minimalistic approach in this picture. So simple and yet very beautiful. The birds make an almost abstract pattern across the sky. Nicely captured.
